Flying from Canada to Tahiti

The Islands of Tahiti are located in the heart of the South Pacific, just eight hours from Los Angeles and on the same side of the International Dateline as North America.

From Canada, you would fly to Los Angeles and connect with your Air Tahiti Nui flight to the island of Tahiti.

Onboard your Air tahiti Nui flight, do not hesitate to have a Hinano Beer which is the local Tahitian beer and chat with the great Air Tahiti Nui Crew. They have great Tips on the islands.

Once you have landed at Faa’a – the international airport of Tahiti, you are invited to disembark directly onto the tarmac.

The one thing to notice as soon as you get off the plane is the warm tropical air, so make sure to put your sweaters away before getting off the plane.

At the airport entrance, a Polynesian welcome is given by a group of local musicians as well as a "Tiare Tahiti" which is the Tahitian Flower.

Shortly after some formalities, it is already time to pick up your luggage from the airport’s conveyor belt and stop by the new duty free shop! Yes, there is one upon arrival in Tahiti.Make sure to purchase your alcohol there as it is a lot cheaper than buying at the local supermarket.Anyone over the age of 18 is allowed to bring 2 litres of alcohol per person.

A final walk through customs and then…. Ia Orana, Manava i Maeva i Tahiti ! (Welcome to Tahiti!)
