We were up very early to watch the arrival in Ua Huka as we were told it was not to be missed. Captain Vatea and his crew did an outstanding job entering the small bay and positioning the Ship for Departure. It was by far the best and most impressive arrival of the voyage.

On the island of Ua Huka, wild Horses were brought from Chile in 1856.Today they outnumber the inhabitants. The island is also known for wood carving as well as engraved coconut shells.

Upon reaching the shores of Ua Huka, our Driver for the Day took us to the island's city Hall garden to visit the small museum of Vaiapee which houses replicas of Marquesan Art. The villagers also greeted us with beautiful traditional songs.

We then got back on board our 4WD to explore the island, stopping for breathtaking views of the pacific Ocean. We also visited the Arboretum and Botanical garden born from the passion of the island's former Mayor Mr. Leon Lichtle. This is an absolute Stop when visiting the island.

After a very good Lunch at Celine Fournier's Restaurant, we decided to go to Church in the Village. The service was in French and Marquesan .This was a great way to spend the Sunday afternoon in Ua Huka.

Later we said our farewell to the beautiful island of Ua Huka and we boarded the Aranui with all the wood carving bought that day.

It was time to get ready for the sumptuous Buffet Dinner served on Deck for the Polynesian evening under the stars with the rest of the Aranui family.

Koutau Nui Ua Huka!
